A VPN is an encrypted path to a server you choose.
Your device builds a tunnel to a NodeDistro VPN server. Websites see that server’s address instead of the network you are sitting on.
On an open cafe network, the path between your computer and the VPN server is encrypted with WireGuard. The cafe can see that you connected to the VPN. It cannot read the sites inside the tunnel.
The VPN server can see the destinations it forwards, the way any network exit can. NodeDistro VPN does not store those destinations or the contents of the traffic. That is a data-retention choice, not anonymity.
A VPN does not replace HTTPS, a password manager, or system updates. It also does not make a simulated location into a real exit. If a city is marked SIMULATED, there is no tunnel there.
